Survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats

This course has been designed for Captains and Bridge and Engine Room Officers:

- Passenger vessels.

- Merchant ships with a gross tonnage greater than 75 GT.

- Fishing vessels over 20 metres in length.

As well as all onboard personnel that have been assigned responsibilities in handling survival craft and rescue boats.

Goals

Train students to obtain the Certificate of Survival Craft and rescue Boats other than fast rescue boats according to amended STCW/78 Convention.

The Jovellanos Center is homologated by the DGMM Resolution of June 16, 2003.

Program

Take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launching.

Operate the motor of a survival craft.

Organise the survivors and the survival craft after abandoning the ship.

Provide first aid to the survivors.

Practical training:

Survival craft and life raft equipment. Hydrostatic release mechanism.

Procedures for launching survival craft.

Safely recovering survival craft.

Start-up and operate the motor of lifeboats and rescue boats.

Handle a survival craft and use of its equipment.

Use of survival suits and thermal protective aids.

Towing a life raft. Pulling people out of the sea.

Use radio equipment, signalling equipment and flares.

First aid practical exercises.

Duration

The course consists of 26 hours and it´s delivered over a period of  4 days.
