Backdrafts generation & control

This course has been designed for personnel from fire brigades and industrial fire-fighting services.

Requirement: To be admitted to the course, students must be familiar with the operation and assembly of self-contained breathing equipment.

Goals
  • Identify fires that pose an imminent risk of hot gas explosion.
  • Cool the gases and extinguish the flame of a fire controlled through ventilation.
Program
  • Progress of a fuel and ventilation controlled fire. 
  • Differences between Flashover and Backdraft.

Practical training: 

Scaled-down demonstration. 
Replication of a ventilated and unventilated fire. 
Progress of a ventilation-controlled fire. 
Differences between Flashover and Backdraft.
Backdraft gas control exercise.
Proactively attacking interior fires replicating a Backdraft situation.

Duration

The course consists of 14 certified hours, it´s delivered over a period of 2 days.
