Back The Spanish Maritime Rescue and Safety Agency (Salvamento Marítimo) has participated in the “Third Conference on Safety and Emergency Management in the Maritime Port Environment”

The conference, held on May 30 and 31, was organised by the Port of Tarragona in collaboration with the Tarragona Harbour Master's Office, the Maritime Rescue Agency, the Fire Brigade of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Industrial Chemical Complex, and Magal, a multinational company specialising in security solutions.

The event brought together experts in port security, emergency management, and civil protection to improve coordination and effectiveness in responding to emergencies, especially in the port environment.

The conference featured a dozen seminars and three discussion panels covering topics such as the emergency management model, the use of drones as a support tool in emergencies, the importance of communication management in this type of situation, developments affecting firefighting systems on ships, places of refuge, and the security challenges related to new energy vectors like hydrogen, ammonia and biofuels.

Participants included specialists from various sectors, public and private organisations, technical personnel in the field of safety, Port Authorities, control and rescue centres, Maritime Authorities, and members of the various emergency response teams.

The director of the Spanish Maritime Rescue Agency (Salvamento Marítimo), José Luis García Lena, along with the director of the Jovellanos Centre, Julián Camus, the heads of the Tarragona Centre, Íñigo Landeta, the Bilbao Centre, Lourdes Oña, the Cartagena Centre, Sergio Rodríguez, and the head of the air service, Néstor Perales, participated in the event, among others.
