Back Spanish Maritime Rescue and Safety Agency stand at the Aula Education Fair, 26th to 30th March

At Aula, the Spanish Maritime Rescue Agency is looking for talented individuals to work in maritime professions.

• Information will be available at Pavilion 3, Stand 3C07, on maritime rescue professions and the required studies.

• Workshops on nautical knots and reading nautical charts will be available.

• An immersive set will simulate the inside of a rescue vessel.

The Spanish Maritime Rescue Agency, a public business entity dependent on the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility through the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy, is attending the Aula Fair for the fourth year to showcase all the job opportunities within this institution aimed at protecting life at sea, controlling maritime traffic, and combating marine pollution.

The Spanish Maritime Rescue Agency's stand will be in Pavilion 3, Stand 3C07. The maritime professions on which the Agency will provide information include captains, sailors, controllers, cooks, mechanics, electricians, and oilers, among others. Professionals from this organisation will also explain the various educational and professional pathways to a career in Maritime Rescue.

During the five-day fair, various aspects of the Spanish Maritime Rescue Agency will be discussed, including efforts to combat marine pollution, the integration of women into the maritime field, and the activities of the Jovellanos Maritime Rescue Training Centre. Additionally, workshops will be conducted on reading nautical charts and tying sailor knots, which are essential skills for anyone venturing out to sea.

Another highlight of the Maritime Rescue stand is an immersive set that simulates a ship's deck, allowing visitors to take photographs and share them on Instagram with the hashtag #VocacionesenlaMar. Prizes will also be raffled among participants.

At the Maritime Rescue stand, the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy will provide information on career opportunities offered by the Maritime Administration related to ship inspections for safe navigation, the management of Harbour Master's Offices, handling emergencies at sea, and developing regulations in the maritime transport and recreational boating sector, among others.

Podcasts, social media, and comics

During the fair and in the days leading up to Aula, the Maritime Rescue Service’s social media profiles have published videos featuring agency professionals showcasing their work and encouraging others to follow their example.

Additionally, the latest episode of the Las Caras del Mar (Faces of the Sea) podcast, produced by the Spanish Maritime Safety Agency, is entirely dedicated to employment and training. This episode, available on the major audio platforms and on the www.salvamentomaritimo.es website, offers guidance for those interested in learning about the studies required for a career in the Maritime Rescue Agency.

The material available at the stand includes the comic book ‘Salvador,’ which tells the story of a young man who gets into trouble at sea, is rescued by the Maritime Rescue Service, and becomes the captain of one of their ships.
