Basic safety training refresher

This course has been designed for personnel who hold “Basic Safety Training” certificate and need to update their proficiency.

Requirement: In order to complete the course, a statement signed by the student will be necessary, stating his ability to stay afloat in the water without a life jacket.

Goals

Revalidate the Basic Safety Training Certificate in accordance with the Resolution of September 21, 2016, of the Directorate-General of the Merchant Navy 

Law: Course and assessment tests in accordance with Regulation VI/1 of the STCW Convention; section A-VI/1.3; Tables A-VI/1-1 and A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Training Code as amended. 

Since 1 June 2017, the Jovellanos Centre for Comprehensive Maritime Safety has been authorised by a resolution of the Directorate-General of the Merchant Navy to provide the ‘Basic Safety Training Update Course’.

Program

The course programme complies with the requirements of Order FOM/2296/2002 of 4 September 2002 of the Ministry of Public Works (B.O.E. nº 226 of 20/09/02), which establishes maritime speciality courses and certificates, as well as the Resolution of 2 February 2017 of the Directorate-General of the Merchant Navy, which sets out the procedure for revalidating certificates of proficiency under the STCW Convention.

Duration

The course consists of 16 hours and it´s delivered over a period of  2 days.

Certificate

Valid for 5 years.
